Sooo….. This painting started out in my mind as a soccer painting of Cristiano Ronaldo and ended up as a mixed-media collage of poppy flowers. I think my creative process might be a bit odd… 🙂 Painting to celebrate World Cup – ooh, why not Ronaldo – hmm, won’t be done in time for the show this Thurs – how about something with the cool World Cup ball – the ball kind of looks like a flower – flowers with soccer ball blooms hmm – wait…what are some colors of Brazilian flowers – ooh lots of poppies in Brazil – always wanted to do flower silhouettes – poppies symbolize remembrance – the best way to remember other’s sacrifice is to be thankful for our lives today – ooh gratitude I have been wanting to do a painting on gratitude – And voila! A blue acrylic collage with black mica poppies titled “Gratitude.” On display tonight in the Balls to the Wall show at AHA Gallery in Dumbo NYC
